Mount St. Helens Institute

At the Mount St. Helens Institute, we are engaged in outreach to people of all ages to help ensure a deep understanding of the human connection to natural processes and the cultural heritage of the Pacific Northwest's amazing and inspiring volcanic landscapes.  We want you to join us as we explore the volcano in our backyard.  We offer a wide variety of activities including:

* Volcano Views and Brews--a once per month (3rd Tuesday) lecture series at the Lucky Lab in NW Portland.  The series includes guest speakers on topics ranging from biology to geology to art and literature.  $5.00 admission.

*Volunteer Conservation Projects -- frequent projects designed to offer 1 & 2 day volunteer experiences while repairing and maintaining trails and facilities.

*Volcano U! Hands-on science, art and literature classes in the field.

*Guided Climbs to the Mount St. Helens rim.

*Guided hiking and snowshoeing adventures in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
